Guadalupe Plata has spent twenty years pursuing an idea as simple as it is difficult to
domesticate: playing primitive, dark, and immediately recognizable music. From
Úbeda, Pedro De Dios —guitar and vocals— and Carlos Jimena —drums— have built a
language where Delta blues coexists with rock’n’roll, psychedelia, flamenco, and
folk music, all seamlessly blended.

Around this music, they have created imagery populated by snakes,
cemeteries, switchblades, apparitions, and doomed loves. Their songs start from the
elementary forms of blues, but transport them to a dry, nocturnal territory
deeply rooted in the landscape, memory, and speech of Andalusia.

Far from limiting their music, this rootedness has been one of the keys to their
international projection. Guadalupe Plata has played in over twenty countries and
territories, from the United States, Canada, and Mexico to Brazil, Argentina, and Chile,
in addition to regular tours through the United Kingdom, Central Europe, and the Balkans.
